Odor Stop® is an allergy-free, pollutant-free filter system that leaves
no respiratory irritants in the air. Odor Stop® protects your health by
eliminating the odors and gases instead of just masking them or covering them
up as fragrances do.
The EPA ranks poor indoor air quality among the top five environmental risks
to public health.
Asthma, which can be triggered by indoor air pollution, annually accounts for
an estimated 14.5 million lost workdays for adults and 14 million lost school
days for children. Asthma costs our nation $14 billion in health care costs
annually. (Source: MMWR Surveillance for Asthma, March, 2002)
What do Sick Building Syndrome, Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and
Environmental Illness have in common? They are all illnesses triggered by
prolonged exposure to chemicals and allergens in the indoor air. Many offices,
schools, hospitals and homes constantly expose their occupants to hazardous
conditions that make them chronically ill.
Sources of indoor air pollution include formaldehyde, pesticides, tobacco
products, cleaning chemicals, solvents, personal-care products, photocopy
machines, etc. Since World War II, over 70,000 different chemicals are
routinely used on a daily basis. These chemicals send toxic vapors into the
air stream. It is quite alarming when you consider the number of chemicals
we are exposed to on a daily basis - and when these chemicals combine
(synergistic effect), they are often more toxic in combination.
Formaldehyde is one of the most prevalent chemicals and is considered among
the most hazardous to human health. It is one of a large family of chemical
compounds called "volatile organic compounds" or VOC's. The term "volatile"
means that the compounds vaporize, that is, become a gas at normal room
temperatures. It is a colorless, strong-smelling gas that can cause watery
eyes, burning sensation in the eyes, nose and throat, nausea, coughing,
chest tightness, wheezing, skin rashes and allergic reactions. It is a
known cause of cancer.
Formaldehyde is used to make other chemicals, building materials and household
products. Exposure comes from: (1) The glue or adhesive in pressed wood
products (particleboard, hardwood plywood, and medium density fiberboard (2)
The preservatives in some paints, coatings and cosmetics (3) The coating that
provides permanent press quality to fabrics and draperies (4) The finish used
to coat paper products and (5) Certain insulation materials (urea-formaldehyde
foam and fiberglass insulation). Formaldehyde levels in the indoor air depend
mainly on what is releasing the formaldehyde, the temperature, humidity level
and the air exchange rate.
Carpeting also emits volatile organic compounds, as do products that accompany
carpet installation. Styrene butadiene latex is used in flooring adhesives
and carpet backing -contributing to indoor air pollution. Air fresheners (both
the spray type and wick type) are air pollutants. They do nothing to improve
the quality of the air. Instead they add a wide range of components including
naphthalene, xylene, formaldehyde and phenol. Other ingredients include zinc
phenolsulfonate, pyrethrin, piperonyl vutoxide, trichloromonofluromethane,
methylene chloride, p-dichloroenzene, etc. Several of these components are
known carcinogens and others have a wide range of immediate and long-term
effects on vital organs.
How can we reduce the dangers of poor, even toxic, indoor air? Certainly, the
problems we face today cannot be solved by the same thinking that created the
problems. We have an environmentally-related health crisis on our hands. We
must turn our indoor air streams back to a more natural state, free of harmful
gases and vapors. Health effects of indoor pollutants can show up after a
single exposure or repeated exposures. In some cases, the health effects may
not be experienced until years later.
Odor Stop® is the most effective product on the market today for removing
sulfur dioxide, ammonia, formaldehyde, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide,
hydrogen sulfide, nicotine and other gases and vapors from the air. Odor
Stop® is made from a group of naturally occurring minerals, which have
been used for years for purification and various types of pollution control.
The zeolite mineral used in Odor Stop® is nature's answer to better
indoor air quality. It helps to restore the air to a clean, natural state to
protect your health. You will find a noticeable difference in 3 days and
remarkable results in 2 weeks.
The Odor Stop® system works in conjunction with existing air conditioning
systems, enabling every room covered by your AC system to enjoy healthier air.
The Odor Stop® system is cost effective, works 24 hours a day, requires
no electricity and has no moving parts. There are no replacement pellets or
filters to buy.
Elevated humidity levels can increase concentrations of some pollutants,
bacteria, mold and mildew. Use Awesome Air® to eliminate excess moisture
and mold and Odor Stop® to eliminate harmful gases -- then breathe
healthy!
